Fiction

Cat Mysteries

Cats are frequent plot devices (and sometimes title characters and co-authors) in mystery stories. Perhaps it's because we think of cats as mysteries themselves that they fit so well in this genre. See the link above for a page just on cat mysteries.

Similar pages for science fiction/fantasy, regular fiction, and children's cat books will be done when I get a chance. Can you tell I'm a librarian in my other life?

Literature and Quotations

Some books straddle that fiction-nonfiction line or veer off into literature (think T. S. Eliot). And many a profound person has had profound things to say about cats. Check the Literature and Quotation Books page for some examples of quotable quotes and kitty lit.

Feline Psychology and Communication

Sometimes a cat knows what you're thinking, but you don't have a clue what's going on in his mind. But sometimes, especially after you've lived with a cat for a long time, you can tell from body language whether he's sick, grumpy, or feeling great. And whether you realize it or not, he's reading you the same way. This collection of books has some interesting pointers on building communications and understanding between humans and their feline friends.

Healthcare

Cats are stoic animals, and it's sometimes very hard to spot early signs of disease, but here are some books to help you look out for symptoms and then to deal with the medical and practical aspects of caring for a sick kitty.

Humor

Often we humans are the real object of the joke when our cats are in charge, but we wouldn't have it any other way.

Lifestyles of cats and their people

Living with a cat can be a colorful thing. Check out these books for ideas on crafts and decorating as well as personal anecdotes.
